Satsangi (band)
Satsangi is an Indo-UK musical band which performs around various cities in United Kingdom. Initially formed by Sujatha Menon. The band started its journey in 2010 with its first album "No Shoes in Satsang Hall".〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://satsangi.bandcamp.com/album/no-shoes-in-satsang-hall/ )〕
Then their second album was released, namely "Baby Doll" in 2012. Their third album was released in 2013 namely "Satsangi Shruti Project" and their recent album is "Satsangi Opera" which was released in March this year. They also have a number of hit singles e.g. The song "Iodine" was a hit amongst the followers of Satsangi (Band). "Down Down" was also a beautiful combination of their music. "It all started when downstairs mother was singing classical Indian ragas, upstairs I was listening to Led Zeppelin wondering what it would sound like if Kishori Amonkar sang with the B-52's", says Sujatha Menon, a founder member of the band.
==Biography==
"Iodine reminds me a bit of Sonic Youth but with infinitely better singing with tough sax break that made me think of X-Ray Spex. The whole thing sounds nervy, dislocated and very tense – just the way I like it" says Steve Chandra Savale of Asian Dub Foundation.The band is known for the blend of Eastern and Western music culture, which is to them, a new kind of project. As, Sujatha Menon stated, her Indian roots help them to compose their songs, and use Sanskrit vibes to fuse with Western music, using Guitar riffs and vocals. Also, Bobby Friction from the BBC Asian Network says "I feel like I could play that for the next hour or so, but then I'd lose my job, she sounds brilliant her name is Sujatha Menon, she's the lead singer of Satsangi".
The band has been performing around London and Birmingham, United Kingdom lately for shows.
